So you want to work from home…what do you do now?

So I want to work from home…what do I do now?

Well first things first. You need to decide what type of business you want to be involved in and how many hours a week you can spend training and working your business.

You can do something more traditional like becoming a sales consultant for Avon, Tastefully Simple, Pampered Chef etc. To generate sales you will need to share the sales catalog from the corresponding company with your friends, family, co-workers, etc. Another traditional method of making sales is by having home parties at your house or your customer’s house. I think most people that are involved with this type of business probably spend at least 10-15 hours a week on business related activities including home parties. I am not familiar with the commission plan that each of these companies has. If you are interested, I would suggest that you go directly to their websites. I would think that one downside of this type of business is that it is somewhat geared to marketing to those in your immediate area and not necessarily in surrounding states or around the world.

There are also MLM companies. In most MLM models, they are based on a sales “tree” in which you recruit other people into your business including customers.  You will make a commission from the points that you accumulate from the purchases that are made from those people that are below you on the “tree”. There is more initial time investment in these types of businesses because of additional training needed to learn how to market the product itself as well as the opportunity. Not everyone is comfortable with the term “recruiting” because it is often associated with forcibly trying to get your friends and family to buy your stuff. However, “recruiting” often gets a bad wrap. Think about this. Most people are looking for an opportunity to earn money from home especially in today’s bad economy. The training that is offered will help you to talk to the right people to lessen any chance of rejection. Most of these companies have readily available training videos and interactive tutorials to streamline your training so you can get moving and make some money.
One hot product right now is the Body by Vi 90 day weight loss challenge. In August 2011 alone over 60,000 people joined. It is a new company and is currently only distributed in the United States and Canada. It is growing. There are opportunities to take advantage of the product launches as the company expands into other countries. You can learn more about this opportunity at http://tiny.cc/losenow or http://tiny.cc/gostartnow.

There are also direct sales internet marketing companies. Most of these are commission based. Most offer products or services to potential customers. Since these are “internet” based some have a sales funnel set up to use to market to people from around the world. So instead of just reaching people in your town or immediate area, you can reach potential customers from other countries. This broader approach can help you find the “right” people that are actually “looking” for your opportunity. One such business model whose sales funnel actually weeds out the tire kickers and less serious prospects is Pro Elite. This is one of the top internet marketing companies out there. They have a high commission payout. You can learn more about this opportunity at http://tiny.cc/proelite.
Again there will be a learning curve and some initial time investment in training and setup. One thing that I like about ProElite is the exceptional support system that they have in place to get you trained and on your way to earning additional income quickly.
